KTM’s added a third paint option to the India-market 390 Adventure, and this is exactly the kind of story I’d normally skip past – except the Ebony Black scheme is the first one on this bike that isn’t wearing orange like it’s compulsory, and that’s a bigger deal for KTM than it sounds.

The new colourway

The 2026 KTM 390 Adventure now offers Ebony Black, a glossy black-and-grey scheme with KTM’s orange graphics reduced to accents on the side panels rather than the dominant colour. It joins the existing Electronic Orange and Ceramic White options at the same starting price of ₹2,87,802 (about €3,095) ex-showroom Delhi – KTM isn’t charging extra for the new paint.

Mechanically nothing changes. This is the 349.32cc LC4c single-cylinder version – KTM’s smaller “350cc” 390 Adventure, derived from the larger 398.63cc engine that makes 46 PS and 39 Nm – putting out 41.5 PS and 33.5 Nm here, with a revised thermostat in the cylinder head for better temperature management under India’s heat.

Why a colourway gets a headline

KTM’s whole visual identity runs on orange, so a factory scheme that deliberately mutes it – grey panels, black high-mount fender, black hand guards, orange demoted to graphics – reads as KTM testing whether the 390 Adventure can sell to someone who wants the bike’s 690 Rally-adjacent hardware without looking like a rolling billboard for the brand. It’s a small tell about who KTM thinks is cross-shopping this bike against more subdued adventure-tourers, in the same India market where KTM’s CEO just confirmed the RC 790 and RC 490 are coming to round out the smaller-capacity lineup.

Not currently sold in this exact spec in the EU – Europe gets its own 390 Adventure trim and colour run – but KTM’s India and EU colourways have a habit of crossing over eventually, so file this one away.

I’ve said “I’m doing the Alps on a small-bore ADV bike next summer” three years running now. The bike keeps getting better. My follow-through hasn’t moved an inch.
