This Privacy & Cookie Policy explains what information Throttle Times (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit throttle-times.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We are the data controller for this website. If you have any questions, contact us at [email protected].

The short version

  • We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — but only if you accept analytics cookies. Reject, and no analytics cookies are set.
  • If you subscribe, we store your email address so we can send you sign-in links and (if you opt in) updates.
  • We don’t sell your data, and we don’t run advertising trackers.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use two categories:

  • Strictly necessary — required for the site to work. These include a small record of your cookie choice (stored in your browser’s local storage as tt-consent) and, if you log in as a member, a session cookie that keeps you signed in. These are always active and don’t need consent.
  • Analytics — set only after you click “Accept”. Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_<id> cookies (typically expiring after up to 2 years) to measure page views and general usage patterns. Until you consent, Google’s tag runs in a restricted, cookie-free mode.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer, or by clearing your browser storage for this site.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

When you consent, we use Google Analytics 4, provided in the EU by Google Ireland Limited, to collect aggregated, mostly de-identified usage data — such as pages visited, approximate location (derived from a truncated IP address, which Google does not store), device type, and referring links. We use this only to understand what content is useful and to improve the site. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Membership and email

If you subscribe or create an account, we store your email address (and any name you provide) to send you a secure sign-in link, to confirm your subscription, and — where you have opted in — to send you occasional updates. Sign-in and confirmation emails are “transactional” and necessary to provide the service you requested. Marketing/newsletter emails, if any, are sent only with your consent, and every one includes a one-click unsubscribe link. The legal basis is performance of a contract (running your account) and, for marketing, consent.

Comments

If commenting is enabled and you leave a comment, your name and comment are stored and shown publicly with the post. You can edit or delete your comments from your account.

Who processes your data for us

We use a small number of reputable service providers who act as data processors on our behalf:

  • Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited) — website analytics, only with your consent.
  • Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES) — delivery of sign-in and notification emails.
  • Cloudflare — content delivery, security, and email routing for our domain.
  • DigitalOcean — hosting of the website and its database.

International transfers

Some providers (for example Google and AWS) may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where they do, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep data

We keep member account data for as long as your account is active, and delete it on request or a reasonable time after you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ configured retention period. Server logs are kept only briefly for security and troubleshooting.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting processing already carried out). To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date above, and for significant changes we’ll aim to give a clearer notice.
