Royal Enfield dispatched 332,940 motorcycles in Q1 FY27 (April-June 2026), up 27% year-on-year from 261,326 units the same quarter last year — its highest-ever quarterly volume. Numbers like this don’t usually make for exciting reading, but a quarter of a million-plus Royal Enfields rolling out of Chennai in three months is the kind of quietly massive figure that’s easy to scroll past and shouldn’t be.

What the numbers show

Domestic sales hit 301,174 units, up 31.64% year-on-year from 228,779 — the bulk of the growth, and a sign the brand’s core Indian market is still expanding rather than plateauing. Model by model, the Classic 350 remains the volume leader by a wide margin: 113,221 units, up 33.83%. The Bullet 350, Royal Enfield’s oldest continuously-produced nameplate, had one of its strongest quarters in years, up 47.27% to 74,900 units. The Guerrilla 450 nearly doubled its volumes, rising 91.44% to 5,075 units — still a small number next to the 350s, but a strong early trajectory for a relatively new model built on the 450 platform.

June also marked a first for the brand: customer deliveries of the Flying Flea C6, Royal Enfield’s first electric motorcycle, began in Bengaluru, with an encouraging initial response and plans to expand to more cities in the months ahead.

Guerrilla 450 5,075 +91.44%

Royal Enfield posting record numbers off the back of its 350cc range lands not long after its Shotgun 650 x Rough Crafts collaboration sold out in three minutes, and while its Continental GT 750 is out testing new variants ahead of a likely EICMA debut. It’s not the only Indian manufacturer having a strong month, either — Hero MotoCorp posted its own 18.6% July sales jump just last week. Good year to be selling motorcycles in India, apparently, or at least a good year to be one of the two brands doing it best.

None of this changes my own riding habits in the slightest, obviously — my Bullet 350 equivalent sits in the garage judging me — but there’s something satisfying about a company selling this many bikes on the strength of a genuinely simple, cheap, easy-to-live-with formula rather than a chase for bigger numbers on a spec sheet. Sometimes the boring bike wins the quarter.
